Born and raised in a mining village in the far north among dwarves and other chillborn humans (humans born with extra cold resistance), Fjord grew up mining for gems and precious metals. He was never very strong, but he proved very dexterous, and he was tutored in the way of the warp spider by an aging dwarf wizard in the village. These warp spider abilities allowed him to travel thirty feet in the blink of an eye, disappearing and reappearing instantly in thin clouds of mist. Fjord learned to use this power in combat to gain impressive flanking and sneak attack advantages.
Eventually, Fjord was hired as a bodyguard for an influential jarl several miles south of his home village. There he met and joined a band of adventurers to help them in their quests. This party performed many impressive feats, including capturing a rival jarl and his property and slaying terrible monsters (including Fenris).
The most noteworthy quest, however, was protecting a fortress and village from a siege of skeleton warriors and frost giants. Fjord is remembered for brazingly leaping and warping from the wall to the enemy battering ram, and then to the shoulder of one of the giants. His warp ability saved his life multiple times as he worked on slashing at giants’ necks while avoiding giant fingers and hands. The party successfully defended the walls and were soon sent on one final quest: vanquishing an evil winter sorcerer, Ragnar, and his giant snow viper. There, too, they proved victorious, saving the land from a deadly, perpetual winter.
